At The Way Resource Center, we believe every young person deserves the tools to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Our Youth Behavioral Health Counseling Program offers individual therapy, family support, and skill-building workshops designed to help youth overcome challenges such as anxiety, trauma, and depression.
We partner with families and schools to reduce suspensions, strengthen resilience, and create positive pathways for our youth in the High Desert.

About The Program

The Youth Behavioral Health Counseling Program (YBHCP) is an initiative of The Way Resource Center in Apple Valley, CA. Our mission is to provide youth and families in the High Desert with accessible, evidence-based mental health services that strengthen emotional well-being, reduce risk factors, and build healthier communities.

Who We Serve

- Youth ages 8–17 experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges.
- Families in Apple Valley, Victorville, Hesperia, Adelanto, and surrounding High Desert communities.
- At-risk youth struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, social withdrawal, or risk of juvenile justice involvement.

Program Goals

1. Individual Counseling – Focused on anger management, trauma recovery, depression, and anxiety using practices like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness.
2. Family Counseling & Parent Support – Strengthening communication and family support for long-term success.
3. Skill-Building Workshops – Tools for stress management, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and resilience.
4. Early Intervention & Prevention – Screenings, assessments, and short-term support to prevent escalation.
5. Telehealth Options – HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for families unable to attend in person.

Our Approach
  1. Intake & Assessment: Personalized intake and treatment plans for each youth.
  2. Counseling & Family Engagement: Weekly individual sessions and structured family support.
  3. Skill Development: Journals, art activities, and mindfulness practices to reinforce coping skills.
  4. Graduation & Aftercare: Recognition upon completion and ongoing referrals as needed.
